Course description
The course provides a structured and collaborative process for producing assignments and activities which are commonly found in professional, academic and working life situations. Particular emphasis will be on developing strategic communication competence for multicultural employment environments.All activities and assignments address professional communication competence found in academic and professional work life situations. Course assignments include e.g. writing an academic synthesis paper, designing a workplace team project, and acting as a critical reviewer. Some assignments can be partially integrated to Master’s thesis.

Osaamistavoitteet
On completion of the course the student is expected to:
- recognize, understand and use the conventions, language and register needed in professional and academic communication contexts
- demonstrate an ability to efficiently collaborate in diverse teams as well as show an ability to work independently
- be able to synthesise and critically evaluate professional and research information both orally and in writing to diverse, multicultural audiences
- demonstrate an ability to follow ethical standards when referencing a range of appropriate sources in both written work and presentations
- know how to reflect on their own contribution and critically assess the work of others as well as provide and learn from constructive feedback
