Kuvaus

Course content: - Basic concepts - Sample preparation and basic measurements - Special techniques in 13C and 1H NMR spectroscopic measurements (coupled 13C, INEPT, DEPT, APT, solvent suppression etc.) - 2D NMR spectroscopy (COSY, TOCSY, HSQC, HMBC etc) - Stereochemical assignments (coupling constants, NOE related measurements) - STD-measurements, DOSY, dynamic NMR - Solid state NMR spectroscopy - Heteronuclear NMR spectroscopy (P, F, N) - Computational methods for NMR data processing - Applications of NMR spectroscopy in structural elucidation of natural products, carbohydrates, biomaterials and polymers

Osaamistavoitteet

After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to: - do structural elucidation based on interpreting the NMR spectra of complex molecules - describe the basic principles of NMR methods. - select and apply the correct NMR experiments for solving different problems related to chemical structures - independently process the raw-data and report the data in a correct manner TRANSFERABLE SKILLS: - Theoretical knowledge gained from the studies - Practical knowledge gained from the studies - Analytical and systematic thinking skills - Information retrieval - Problem-solving skills - Organizational and coordination skills - Ability to learn and adopt new things - Self-direction/initiative
