Osaamistavoitteet

This is a generic doctoral training course. It aims to acquaint PhD students with futures research, contextualizing, and theory building in management and management-related research. We start from the premise that it is critical for a doctoral researcher to understand emergence and contextual realities via applying futures-oriented approaches early in their doctoral studies. By the end of the course, the doctoral researchers will have gained skills and knowledge on (a) the role of contextualizing emergence and interpreting and acting on foresight-based knowledge, and (b) analyzing and providing scientific data and results based on futures-oriented methods. Upon completion of the course, the doctoral researchers will * be familiar with the basics of futures-oriented research and foresight * know the basic scenario approaches used in research, strategy, and policy settings * know the basic scenario methodologies and know how to apply, interpret and legitimate scenario methodologies in research * be able to generate, apply, evaluate, and assess different types of scenarios in various contexts and related to strategies and policies * be able to plan, facilitate, interpret and develop futures-oriented research methodologies
