This course is designed to introduce the theoretical underpinnings of the IB field. The course offers a comprehensive overview of relevant theoretical traditions, topics, and recent empirical developments in IB scholarship, especially research foci of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship group at JSBE. Course objectives are to provide students with i) a thorough understanding of the foundations, assumptions, and implications of economic and organizational theoretical perspectives, ii) a survey of research areas, and iii) an understanding of the critical debates characterizing the IB field. By the end of the course, students will ideally be capable of engaging in theory-building activities, selecting and applying theoretical approaches that align more appropriately with the economic and organizational foundations of the IB field.
