This course introduces participants to the basics of user interface design, mostly for screen-based systems such as desktop and mobile applications. The focus is on methods, theories and concepts that are commonly used in UX/UI profession. After the course, the student has readiness to critically evaluate and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of different design choices on interaction level when they participate in digital product design projects.
Osaamistavoitteet
After successful completion of this course, students will:
· Be able to sketch and design interaction sequences and user flows, by considering UI design beyond individual screen layouts only;
· Apply design patterns and other interface concepts in interaction design, informed by theories from psychology and human factors;
· Be aware of digital tools in interaction design;
· Carry out a heuristic expert-based usability evaluation on a UI;
· Has an initial understanding on how graphical design can be integrated to UI design via design systems.
Esitietojen kuvaus
Students should have a background in cognitive science, information systems, computer science, design or some other discipline that studies humans as users of technology.
