The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamental characteristics of games, and how games are built on material elements, or software and electronic platforms.
Osaamistavoitteet
On completion of this course the student will be able to
● understand the specificity of games as cultural creations
● critically discuss the fundamental principles how game mechanics and game elements engage players
● analyse different game types
● analyse how games may appropriate elements and practices from other cultural products
