Kuvaus

The aim of the course is to give students basic knowledge in electrochemistry including some common applications of electrochemistry.

Osaamistavoitteet

The students should know and get familiar with common electrochemical concepts and techniques/methods, such as: - Electrochemical reactions at metal electrodes - The electrical double layer - Nernst and Butler-Volmer equation - Voltammetry, potentiometry, conductometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning electrochemical microscopy - Electrocatalysis - Bioimpedance - Batteries (lithium-ion and redox flow batteries), supercapacitors and fuel cells - Electrochemistry in biological systems - Spectroelectrochemistry, electrochromism, light-emitting electrochemical cells and dye senzitized solar cells - Some common electrochemical sensors General skills (allmänfärdigheter): - Theoretical knowledge about the most common electrochemical concepts and techniques/methods. - To apply theoretical knowledge in practical applications. - Understand the operational principle of batteries. - Critical evaluation of results obtained in electrochemical measurements.
