Content
The course introduces a range of key interactional practices that teachers and students employ to accomplish pedagogical goals in second (L2) and foreign language (FL) classrooms. The interactional practices include such phenomena as teacher questions, student responses, student questions, and teacher evaluations, among others. Another aim of the course is to introduce a set of core theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of classroom interaction (e.g. DA, CA and ethnography) through the course readings and short lectures. The course will offer both practical pedagogical insights and research methodological perspective to students.
