Learning outcomes

After passing the course the student is 1) familiar with the central research methods in software engineering and telecommunications, 2) has a good comprehension on research processes in this field, and 3) is aware of the ethical principles of scientific research. The course will provide students skills and competencies for dissertation work.

Additional information

Obligatory for those students who are studying towards the degree of D.Sc. (Tech.), and do not have similar studies in their previous education. Other students can also participate.

Completion methods

Method 1

Evaluation criteria:
The course is based on a reading circle including six topics and gatherings. The meetings consist of an expert’s introduction, examination of the literature, production of a report. In addition, each participant will get acquainted with scientific research articles that will be evaluated from the perspective of the method under consideration. The reports will be written either in Finnish or English.
