YJOS4250 Leadership Ethics (5 op)

• Leadership theories and leadership ethics;
• Leadership as a relational phenomenon and recent research developments; 
• Ethical decision-making; 
• In-depth evaluation of ethical problems in various context and leadership situations offering solutions for ethical problems in business;
• Organizational culture of social inclusion;
• Leaders as agents for building sustainable and responsible businesses;
• Scenarios of leadership ethics and future working life.  

Leadership ethics course will discuss the following UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG#3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG#5 (Gender equality), SDG #8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG #10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG#12 (Responsible consumption and production), SDG#16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions).  

On successful completion of this course, student is able to:

• attain an in-depth knowledge for leadership theories with emphasis on ethics and leadership as relational;   

• apply ethical theories to critically evaluate leaders’ behavior patterns in different situations and contexts, and distinguish their causes and outcomes for individuals, organizations and societies; 

• be able to analyse threats and risks and competing frames for ethical decision-making and propose well-argued logics for promoting ethical leadership;  

• be able to promote socially inclusive workplaces through leadership.

Development of meta-skills: 

critical and analytical leadership thinking, self-reflection and agency.  

Intermediate Studies in Management and Leadership (35 ECTS) or equivalent.

Course material will be confirmed in the course program annually.
