LPE0574 Physical Education Practicum / Ball Games (3 op)

An introduction to the ball games played in Finland. Emphasis is on the games that are taught in Finnish schools. Also some typical "Finnish ball games" are introduced. Team games (Finnish baseball, indoor bandy), games on ice (ringette, rink bandy, ice hockey). Basic skills, tactics and rules. Minor teaching tasks.

Suoritustavat

Lecture (2 h), practical demonstrations, teaching tasks (28 h).

Active participation to a lecture, all practical demonstrations and teaching own ball game sessions.

Arviointiperusteet

Presence in all lessons is required for completing the course. The student will be assessed on the basis of active participation, group behaviour and positive attitude towards the subject to be taught, the teacher and other course participants during the lessons.

After completion this course, student

• knows basics of typical Finnish ball games (Finnish baseball, indoor bandy and games on ice)
• familiarizes the Finnish school curriculum, especially the aims and the role of physical education in it
• is able to plan ball game lessons according the Finnish core curriculum of physical education
