This course provides students with an advanced understanding of how contemporary work is organized and managed in businesses. It emphasizes globalization as the context within which work is being done. Students will be familiar with various concepts and theories of organizational studies, critical management, and international human resource management. The course covers topics such as cross-cultural management, global leadership, international human resource management, and the impact of globalization on work practices. Students will gain insights into effective management strategies for diverse and geographically dispersed teams and understand the intricacies of operating in various international business environments.
The course contents are related to UN sustainable development goals 5 (Gender Equality), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 10 (Reduce inequality within and among countries).
Osaamistavoitteet
After the course, the student:
understands the central concepts and theories related to organizing and managing work in a global context;
can assess critically how organizational and management theories can help us understand managing work in a global context;
is able to implement the theoretical knowledge into practice;
can participate in intercultural discussions and is able to constructively argue one's own opinions;
can produce written assignments that follow the academic tradition (APA7).
