OJUP1042 Language Aware Language Education (5 op)

CONTENTS:

• practical, theoretical and pedagogical notions of language awareness

• teacher language awareness

• different forms and functions of language across the curriculum

• reflective sketchbooks.

COMPETENCE:

• aesthetic by drawing on different modalities in relation to language development and reflection

• pedagogical with regard to language as a key tool for teaching and learning

• interactional and diversity-related through the use of different language forms and modalities, the notion of language repertoires.

Upon completing of the course the student will be able to

• appreciate the role and range of language in and across education 

• develop educational routines, tasks and activities to promote language development 

• explain basic linguistic features and language structures in child-friendly terms

• support student participation through different forms of language

• recognize language and different modalities as cultural tools that can resource, support and limit education.
