CONTENTS:

• children’s experiences of and responses to change

• encounters within educational communities

• challenges and opportunities for teachers and students

• notions such as intercultural and multilingual education, pedagogical alongsideness, expansive pedagogy and educational community.

COMPETENCE:

• pedagogical through the acknowledgement and exploration of different, curricular goals, student experiences and teacher perspectives

• interactional and diversity-related through the development and implementation of linguistically and culturally sensitive materials and activities

• scientific thinking through the engagement with educational research

• ethical and societal through the better understanding of education as a formative endeavour in the shaping of individuals, communities and society.

Upon completing of the course the student will be able to

• recognize different ways in which educational cultures develop and inform the experiences of students
• sensitively and appropriately share information and ask questions regarding educational cultures and experiences of education
• draw on the linguistic and cultural repertoires of students as resources for educational activities and community development.
