The concept of globalisation, and how different social and behavioural traditions interpret these concepts and have applied them to the study of sport and physical culture. Key issues such as migration, physical education, political economy, environmentalism and nationalism.
Connection of Course Contents to UN Sustainable Development Goals
This course is designed by its nature to pay attention to almost all 17 sustainability development goals. Environmental and energy-related goals (e.g. 6, 7, 14) might receive a bit less attention than other 14 goals.
Osaamistavoitteet
- identify the key concepts and perspectives regarding globalisation and to explore how these have been applied to the study of sport
- understand, by applying sociological concepts, together with theories and evidence, the relationship between sport, globalisation and multiculturalism.
- demonstrate academic understanding on relevant theoretical, conceptual and methodological skills on current global issues, problems and interactions in sport
