Avainteksti
Kuvaus
For reaching the overall aim of connecting the patterns in empirical data to theory in community ecology, the course is designed in two parts. The first part is theoretical, and it covers both fundamental theory in community ecology as well as methodological aspects of community ecology. The fundamental theoretical part reviews how theories in community ecology have evolved through time and which are the currently accepted theoretical frameworks. The methodological part navigates through the data collection and data analysis methods commonly used in community ecology. In the second part of the course, the students work directly with real examples, through journal club discussions on published studies as well as R exercises with real data.
