Kuvaus

The course will encompass the following topics:

  • Basis of electrochemistry and applications for energy storage
  • Introduction to molecular electrochemistry: electron transfer theory
  • Basis of cyclic voltammetry, an analytical tool
  • Mechanisms in molecular electrochemistry; catalytic processes
  • Modified electrodes
  • Seminars: fundamental research related to molecular electrochemistry; examples of lab pathways

Osaamistavoitteet

After the course a student will know the basis of electrochemistry with an introduction to its application for energy storage. The students will also have a large overview of molecular electrochemistry with a special focus on cyclic voltammetry as an analytical technique and its use as a tool to analyze reaction mechanisms in particular for catalytic processes for small molecules activations in the context of energy challenges. Finally, a student will be provided with examples of fundamental research related to the fields of molecular electrochemistry.
