Lisätietoja
Teaching at the university should be discussed and planned with your immediate supervisor. Information about the courses you can contribute to as a teacher can found from your immediate supervisor, your support group members, other teachers in the department or the vice-head responsible for education in the department. If you are employed by the University, the time used for teaching preparation and thesis guidance is also counted in the doctoral researcher’s workplan. Workload estimates for lecture teaching: 4 hours per every contact lesson for the first time teaching, and after that, 2 hours per every contact lesson. Workload for practical works and demos: 2 hours per every contact hour for first time teaching, and after that, 1,5 hours per every contact hour. Supervising a Bachelor of Science Thesis: 1 ECTS. Supervising a Master of Science Thesis: 1 ECTS.
Teaching experiences are documented in an electronic portfolio (described below). The documents should be signed by the teacher responsible for the course and/or by a professor related to the study subject. The doctoral researcher prepares their teaching portfolio collecting the information for the entire study period and only then applies for study credits.
The following facts should be included in the portfolio documentation for each course:
- The name and the course code.
- The learning outcomes for the course and the teaching methods used.
- The role of the doctoral researcher as a teacher and the number of hours used in teaching.
- A self-reflection on the teaching experience.
- Feedback from the course responsible teacher (eg. strengths and weaknesses of the doctoral researcher in teaching).
- The signature of the course responsible teacher
This course is required for all doctoral researchers in the Department’s Graduate programme in Biological and Environmental Science (min. 1 ECTS).
A maximum of 10 ECTS credits can be awarded with this course code.
Note: If doctoral researchers are paid for teaching, they cannot earn credits for those teaching activit
