XDOC1005 Academic voice and integrating sources (2 op)
Kuvaus
One of the characteristics of academic writing is supporting one’s argument with outside sources. Yet the choice of appropriate sources and their integration into a text are often perceived as challenging. This course thus aims at supporting students in developing an awareness of the role of citations and referencing, whilst providing strategies to skilfully draw on sources through direct quotation, paraphrasing, summarizing, and synthesizing. An optional session covering the latest APA referencing guidelines will offer participants the opportunity to become acquainted with the technical aspects of referencing, which form the base of every writer’s distinct academic voice.

- be able to appropriately use outside sources with academic integrity
