NANS7008 NANO2: Spectroscopy in Nanoscale (JSS31) (2 op)

In the course, the working principle of scanning probe near field optical microscope (Scattering-type SNOM) for nanoscale material characterization is introduced. The theoretical basis for the techniques super-resolution imaging and spectroscopy capabilities in different wavelengths ranges are discussed. Case studies introduced range from all disciplines of life science (biology, chemistry and physics). The course contains laboratory work as well.

After the course, the student understands the length-scales of the microscopic techniques, the basic principles of the near-field optics and mid-IR spectroscopy.
