Kuvaus
Aimed at post-graduate students to increase their awareness of the philosophy and ethics behind their own biological research. Topics include philosophy of science, causality, moral philosophy, codes of conduct, publication practice, unconscious bias.
The course includes 12 hours of lectures and interactive discussions with group activities and 3 hr panel discussion (question day).
Osaamistavoitteet
After completing the course, the student:
- understands what is biological research, what are its limitations and how biological knowledge has developed
- has the ability to reflect on the ethical boundaries of his/her own research.

Lisätietoja
This course is required for all doctoral researchers in the Department’s Graduate programme in Biological and Environmental Science (2 ECTS)
- To get a passing grade, the student is required to attend all the lectures and discussions.
