Description

Content

The sports course comprises 15 trial sessions and lectures related to health, wellbeing and physical exercise. The types of sports differ slightly depending on the term and academic year. The aim is that the student is able to try different sports that can be practised in Jyväskylä individually or in a group. On the course, participants will get familiar with many types of physical exercise both indoors and outdoors as well as with various sports facilities and sports clubs in Jyväskylä.

Completion modes

The course comprises 15 sessions of 1.5 hours each (one course = 22.5 hours). Students can select the completion times according to their personal schedules and preferences from the Academic Sports selection for the sports course. The selection includes about 40 different sports depending on the season. You can complete only one YLIY sports course during an academic year. You can use several academic years to complete the course.

At the most two sessions of one sport can be accepted for the course. One or two of the sessions must be lectures. A lecture can be compensated by keeping a study diary (about 2 pages) of the sessions in which you have participated.

To complete the course, the student needs a completion card in which the date and completed sport sessions are marked. The instructor of the sport confirms the session with an Academic Sports stamp. To get the credits, the student must return the full completion card to the Academic Sports office for inspection.

Assessment criteria

Full completion card with stamped trial sessions and lectures. The card must have 15 completed sports sessions, including at least one lecture.
