Description

This course is aimed at familiarising students with the requirements of research grant proposals. The main focus is on writing a competitive research proposal and an academic CV/ resumé in English. Participants will learn how to identify the key funding bodies in their respective fields of inquiry and adjust their application to match the interests of grant giving institutions. Special attention will be given to genre-and target audience- specific writing.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, participants are expected to:

  • be able to search for funding opportunities and identify the key funding bodies in their respective fields of inquiry
  • to show awareness of variation between different application requirements and funding patterns and be able to adjust their applications accordingly
  • be aware of different research proposal formats and understand the features of a successful research proposal
  • be able to write a CV or resumé that complies with the standards of good academic practice
