Principles of testing
Bicycle ergometer tests
Treadmill tests
ECG
Heart rate acquisition and analysis
Respiratory gas acquisition and analysis
Energy expenditure
Lactate, haemoglobin, hematocrite and sedimentation rate
Exercise in different environments

Completion methods

10 hours of lectures, 20 hours of demonstrations and 20 hours of independent laboratory work (8 ECTS)
Exchange students 4 ECTS; lectures and literature
Students prepare reports of their laboratory work. Exams on lectures and literature.

8 ECTS: Exam (book/lectures/practices) 50% - practise reports 50%
4 ECTS: Exam (book/lectures) 100%

Learning outcomes

After completing the course a student is able to:
• use laboratory methods to determine aerobic and anaerobic fitness
• describe the principles of energy expenditure during physical activity
• explain the physiological responses to exercise tests and adaptations to exercise training
