IBES2320 Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Competence (5 op)
Kuvaus
An entrepreneurial orientation, manifested as competitive aggressiveness, innovativeness, proactiveness, autonomy, and risk taking, identifies entrepreneurial behaviour and competence. This course aims to generalize knowledge of the entrepreneurial behaviour and competence needed to be an entrepreneurial leader or intrapreneur.
We shall compare the opportunity recognition / opportunity seizing typical of entrepreneurial behaviour. Effectuation and causation (as presented by Sarasvathy) will be revised, viewed as forming the basis of entrepreneurial competence. Intrapreneurship, in the form of corporate entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurial team building, will be evaluated as mechanisms to create value in private and public organizations. The ethics of entrepreneurial behaviour will be explained from the perspectives of individuals and teams.
Taking a managerial perspective, we shall summarize the latest research in the field, as seen through the leading entrepreneurship journals, such as Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing, Small Business Economics, and Journal of Small Business Management.
