Content

Doing research is an integral part of many current professions: in the business world, for example, deep customer and competitor understanding directly affects the bottom line. This is why many organizations now focus on user-centered and participatory approaches, such as service design, where the users themselves are part of the design process. On this course, the students will familiarize themselves with a variety of such approaches and carry out a user-centered design project.

Contact teaching: participating in the lectures and completing the project.
Assessment details
Participation: pass/fail. Final grade: 100% project work. Assessment criteria available in Moodle.

Osaamistavoitteet

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • describe and compare different user-centered and participatory design methods
  • assess which method to apply in the development of communications and services in organizations
  • carry out a user-centered design project.
