Kuvaus

This course is organized in collaboration with course PH2. The following subjects will be discussed:

  1. Basic nuclear phenomenology
  2. Using simple quantum mechanics example applied to nuclear case: finite square well
  3. Phenomenological potentials
  4. Discussion on numerical solvers (introduction to computing nuclei)
  5. Mean field methods: Hartree Fock
  6. Phenomenological interactions: how they work and how we build them?
  7. From Hartree-Fock to density functional theory
  8. An overview on modern functionals: achievements and well-known problems
  9. Extrapolation: can we predict nuclear properties in unknown regions?
  10. Introduction to Neutron Stars: what’s the role of nuclear physics?
