This course focuses on discussing the foundations of international entrepreneurship and the internationalization of entrepreneurial firms. The thematic entities of the course are: internationalization pathways of SMEs, foreign market entry process via multiple lenses, network relationships, and social capital. The course gives the students an excellent understanding about various different perspectives related to the internationalization of entrepreneurial firms.
The theories studied in the course are among others: the Uppsala internationalization model, Network model of internationalization, International new venture theory and social capital theory.

Contact teaching course, spring semester 3rd period. The study methods of the contact teaching course are specified in the study program annually.
Arviointiperusteet
Accepted completion of the designated assignments. The assessment criteria of the course is specified in the study program annually.
Osaamistavoitteet
- be able to describe the foundations and different pathways to international entrepreneurship
- be able to describe, compare, criticize and apply the most important theories and explanatory frameworks for firm internationalization
- understand the most important features behind different internationalization pathways taken by SMEs
- be able to understand features related to strategic planning in the contex of firm internationalization
- be able to understand and apply the findings of scientific articles
- be able to improve the international sales strategy of a real entrepreneurial firm
- significantly improve their communication skills
