EKIA3001 Pedagogical Practices in Classroom Interaction (5 op)
Kuvaus
Sisältö
The course introduces a range of key interactional practices that teachers and students employ to accomplish pedagogical goals in second (L2) and foreign language (FL) classrooms. The interactional practices include such phenomena as teacher questions, student responses, student questions, and teacher evaluations, among others. While research-based articles shed light on the practices and provide methodological grounding, authentic classroom data is used to analyze the practices and to reflect on what kind of a role they play in the accomplishment of pedagogical goals. The course thus introduces a set of core theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of classroom interaction (e.g. DA, CA and ethnography) through the readings. The course will offer both practical pedagogical insights and research methodological perspective to students.
