EKIA5001 Contact Zones in English Fiction (4 op)
Kuvaus
Sisältö
As an international medium of communication, English connects countless cultures with a common language – and all the cultural artefacts produced in that language. Where cultures meet, conflicts arise and understandings are forged. These contact zones are fruitful subjects for artists and writers, who reach out to a large audience by writing in English about cultural contexts they know. This course will provide an opportunity for students to explore some of these contact zones from around the world through cultural artefacts – namely stories – produced in English.
